Heyos, all.

I think we have a fun project that Street Scene can adopt together.

Since I got my Gisser in 2006, I realized there is no entry in Wikipedia for it. Up to today, there is still none despite entries for the Fazer, Kawa Z and Hornets are all added and even updated.

So, let's start a project Street Scene can adopt: start a Wikipedia page for the GSR and maintain it.

I've already created a framework:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suzuki_GSR600

What we need:
 - Some nice photos. I'd say everyone who would love to be involved submit / link a photo and we can start a vote to be the main photo in the page as well as some background filler photos.
 - Specifications. Someone please help out with the specifications section. Do compare if there is any difference between the 2006. 2007 and 2008 specs, apart from the ABS.
 - Links to online reviews. Please pool them here so we can add them as references to the page as we update it. Whether good or bad, we can use them all.
 - Suggestions for improvements or sections to add. We love feedback. As long as it helps make a better page.
 - GSR400 section. What is a GSR400, you ask? Its a JDM spec version of the GSR. Only a few countries, mostly Asian, have them, mine being one of them. So I'll look after that section.

What we should not do:
 - Other bike-bashing. I know you guys have a lot to say about other competitor bikes, but let's leave it here.

So, let's start this nice little project, no?

GD - can make this a sticky?

Hello.

To start the ball rolling then.

I have some nice photos of mine and Sumo's bike. Start the fans please:

My website has lots of reviews of the GSR but its not a dedicated GSR600 site. Not sure if it will help but you could link to it if you wanted to.

Dont use these photos on the wiki till I have put a (C) on them.

Cheers

I don't have a Wiki account, but can someone change the 2007 model description to include the fact that ABS was introduced that year? Also, are those colours right? Gloss white and brownish-red?!?

Also the first line needs changing from "intoduced in 2004" to "introduced in 2006".

Nice project, by the way! Smiley Thumbsup

Hey, I thought ABS was only in the 2008 models?
The colors... they are right. I just don't know what the name is. If anyone can get the correct names, make the change.
I need to find my old GSR brochure.

Maybe it's a UK thing then. Our only colours were red, silver and blue in the 2007 range.

And on the ABS, I wasn't specific enough! It needs modified to say that in 2007, ABS was introduced to the range in the following countries: Germany, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Hungary, Finland, Portugal, Belgium, Poland, Lithuania, Ukraine, Estonia, Russia, Greece,Japan, Taiwan, United Arab Emirates and Turkey.

The 2008 model introduced ABS to all remaining territories. Sorry!

The original release colours (official names) were:-

Metallic Mat Black No2 (for some reason Suzuki spell Mat with one t!)
Metallic Oort Grey
Candy Indy Blue
Marble Erakis Red

In the UK, only Black and Blue were available.

You also need to add that black is fastest.

That I will add in.
Perhaps I may have to add the following explanation...
__________________
Silver and 'lighter' colors, being on the higher end of the color spectrum (above the blue/violet spectrum) has a very small wavelength.
As defined:
"The smaller the wavelength, the smaller the structures with which they interact and the more powerful the energy."
Source: http://www.colormatters.com/sci-physics.html
In other words, when light interacts with silver, a high amount of energy is radiated away as silver color which results a major loss in power for the vehicle.
Black, at the bottom of the color spectrum and has a very high wavelength value, retains most of its energy which is used by the vehicle, in this case the bike, in its transmission power.
A good site for formula calculations: http://www.usbyte.com/common/approximate_wavelength.htm
Some more very good read : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Color_spectrum

So thus, the loss of power (as much as -10BHP) for silver colors. I'm not sure what's the effect of white. No research has been done yet and I fear maybe none as the results may be too horrifying to reveal in this industry where looks matter over performance.

Also I found the following pics on the Belgian Suzuki site, which I assume are the current (2008) colour range?

Have you got any pics of the 2007 colours? I've never seen a white or brown one. They don't sound like I'll like them, but I'd like a look!

Proof, undeniable of a white, stock GSR...

Its a 400 but there is stock for 600 white...

I'll get pics of the brownish red one next Friday on our next outing.

These colors you mention, they're not here in Singapore (how I would love an Orange one coz ppl will think I'm on a KTM)...

Thanks WildCard! I was right! Eeeeeeeeeewwwww!

I'm guessing that the white and the brown-red one were only released in certain territories, as I've never seen it before, and I'm fairly sure we've no members who have mentioned owning those colours...

Really don't like that!

But to be honest, I think that Suzuki have consistently got it wrong with the colours apart from the first year models. And even then, they got it wrong by only releasing two of them in the UK! Thanks for the pic!

I just had a look at the Italian Suzuki site and they list the K8 (2008) colours as being the black, grey and orange ones shown above (not the blue one), plus the Silver one that Matron has....

They also list a "GSR600B" model, which has Yoshi cans...
